The paradox in the word Zeeland inspires me to use the energy of the seeming contrast to create a synthesis of feeling and thinking. I try to help building an imaginative bridge or tunnel. The point of synthesis where the lion from the water and the sphynx from the desert can meet joyfully, understand and transform each other.
In the poetic form of the haiku I have found a way of putting into words what I feel and experience when I look at art, nature or people. A lot has been written about the required form of the haiku, but the only rule I apply is the sequence of 5-7-5 syllables. I tie the image and the haiku together in a Zeeland (language)Knot.
